Our newest addition in expanding our capabilities is a BarCode Laser Marking System. This state-of-the-art system is ideal for a wide range of uses since it marks on all metals and most plastics. To further assist our customers, in addition to manufacturing quality parts, we can now mark these same fabricated parts with UID Codes, bar codes, logos, serial numbers, date codes, custom pictures and much, much more. Anything manufactured can now be custom laser marked. This reduces handling and expedites part delivery and lowers costs.
A general accounting study in 1992 estimated that the DoD could have saved $2 billion in inventory through having better information about their inventory by etching a 2-D barcode permanently on each part.
Each UID symbol can use UCC.EAN, ANSI MH 10.8.2 or ATA style descriptors.
By using a Data Matrix Symbol laser etching system to engrave a UID onto each part, you will be able to uniquely identify items by manufacturer, part number and serial number.
Vendors supplying parts to the Department of Defense are required to supply parts with UID Data Matrix Symbols conforming to MIL-STD 130M.
Marking with 2D Matrix Bar Codes also add a level of security as they may be encrypted so only your software will be able to scan the item. We also add a visual name and visual serial number if desired. The 2-D Barcode can be encrypted with as many as 180 charactors, although most put only a serial number and let the software populate fields. Call us at 210-877-2400
