Hospital Surgical Tool Engraving/Marking/Tracking
The basis of asset management is being able to identify what assets are yours.  The heart of our system is the use of a 2-D barcode.  This mark contains a uniques serial number.  we also engrave this same number visually on the surgical instrument along with a three letter abbreviation of the hospitals name.  This can all be put in a space as small as a quarter inch square.  A quick scan with a scanner gun eliminates counting and mistakes.

If you run your finger over the engraving most likely you cannot feel the mark at all.   The depth on this engraving is less than one thousandth of an inch, yet it will last the life of the instrument.   The fiber laser actually pulls carbon molecules to the surface and that is what you and the scanner gun see and read.
